What is the theme of this year’s campaign?
This year’s theme is Powering Your Passion. The campaign, which is run in partnership with Mile High United Way (MHUW), focuses on the causes and organizations for which JMers have a passion. This year’s campaign highlights JM’s core value of keeping our Passion for going the extra mile at the center of everything we do. We want to support the issues and communities our employees care most about.
Using the Giving Campaign Website
How do I donate to an organization using the site?
Click Register in the top right corner to create a new account on the site using your JM email address. You will set up a password and provide basic information before accessing the site.
If you donated last year, click Sign in at the top right corner and enter your JM email address as your username. Your password will be the same as last year. If you can't remember it, you can reset it.
Click on the Give menu, then Giving Campaign. Click Give Now on the right of the page to start the process. First, you will choose which method(s) you’re using to donate – credit card, one-time payroll, or recurring payroll. You will make designations on the next page. You can search for any 501(c)(3) organization, including nonprofits, schools and churches.
What if I need help with the new site?
If you have any trouble setting up your profile, finding an organization you want to contribute to, or have questions about the site in general, email HelpDesk@unitedwaydenver.org and our colleagues at MHUW will be glad to assist you.
Monetary Pledges
Will I receive a confirmation of my monetary pledge?
Yes. Once you donate via the Giving Campaign website, you will see confirmation of your donation on the site and you will also receive an email confirmation. If you have selected Give A Day – Get A Day, you will receive a confirmation of your qualification for an extra day off next year once the amount of your pledge has been verified, usually within a few days.
How can I see how much JM employees have collectively donated to the Giving Campaign?
The combined amount that JM employees have donated during the campaign will be displayed on the Giving Campaign site homepage. For privacy reasons, individual donor information will not be shared.
Can I give money directly to a specific agency without the funds going through MHUW?
Administering the distribution of funds is not cost effective for an organization such as JM. The company pays an administrative fee to MHUW to distribute our contributions to the designated recipient agencies. All of the company's 50% match, as well as 100% of the employee contribution, goes to the designated agency.
Are you accepting checks this year?
We do not accept checks for the Giving Campaign.
How much of my money is going to the designated agency?
The agency/agencies you designate receive 100% of your contribution, along with the 50% company match. Mile High United Way does not charge designation fees.
When will my donation be sent to my designated agency?
Mile High United Way disburses gifts to the designated agencies when the total contribution is $250 or more collectively from all donors. Otherwise, gifts will be distributed in January when the minimum required for distribution drops to $25, or in June when minimum payout amount is $0.
What is a 501(c)(3) organization and what does this designation mean?
In order to be exempt from income tax, an agency must qualify as a Section 501(c)(3) (of the federal tax code) organization. This is defined as being “organized and operated exclusively for…charitable …purposes.” By obtaining this classification, an entity is not only exempt from income tax but donations to that organization are tax deductible as charitable contributions.
If I make a monetary donation, will I get a receipt? If yes – when?
- Contributions made through payroll deductions will show up on your W-2 at the end of the year.
- A receipt will be emailed to you after you donate through the giving campaign.
- If you need a receipt re-sent, email GiftQuestions@unitedwaydenver.org.
How many organizations can I donate to?
You may donate to as many organizations as you like.
How do I check the status and/or verify if my gift was paid out correctly?
You can obtain information about the status of your gift by contacting Mile High United Way at 303-433-8383 or emailing GiftQuestions@unitedwaydenver.org.
Give a Day, Get a Day
What is the Give a Day, Get a Day incentive?
JM is pleased to reward employees who give a day’s salary or more with an additional day off in the next year. This day should be treated like a floating holiday and taken at your earliest opportunity and with the approval of your supervisor. The extra day has no cash value and will not be included as unused vacation should you leave the company during the year.
What is the minimum amount I can pledge? Is there a maximum?
The minimum donation that can be made is $25. There is no maximum.
